The Petco Foundation, in partnership with Petco, is awarding more than $750,000 in Holiday Wishes grants to deserving animal welfare organizations! Submissions are due by Sept. 30! What is Holiday Wishes? The Holiday Wishes campaign gives adopters the opportunity to share their stories of how their pet changes their life, giving the animal welfare organization they adopted from a chance to win a grant of up to $100,000 from the Petco Foundation. Who should participate? Encourage any of your adopters to submit their story describing how their adopted pet brings joy to their life each and every day. We want to hear all of the ways, big and small, pets change people's lives for the better. Help make your Holiday Wishes come true! Share our Facebook video to spread the word and increase your organization's chance of earning an award. Don't miss the deadline! Submit stories before the deadline on September 30, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. CST. We recommend submitting stories before the deadline to ensure they are reviewed. *Due to the high volume of applications, only the first 10,000 submissions are guaranteed full review by the application team. As a friend and member of Love Puerto Rico Golden Retriever Rescue, I urge you to help in any way you can.
Our dogs are primarily fostered but some are in boarding as well. We have families fostering across the Island and boarding facilities that will be hit hard by the hurricane. They all need your help! How can you help?
Your donations and prayers will go along way to help us save lives. Thank you to everyone who has donated this week, it is truly appreciated. If you have questions regarding how to send dog food via Petsmart, please feel free to contact me at hroge@att.net (Holly) A long but excellent look at the difficulties of saving animals.
Today is "World Spay Day". Is your dog spayed or neutered?
To learn why you should spay or neuter your pet, please see The Humane Society's article "Why You Should Spay/Neuter Your Pet". Thoughts? We would love to hear your happy dog stories from Puerto Rico to their new homes.
Both stories and and photos welcome! I am always amazed when dog food companies issue recalls on their food. We all assume they test food before releasing it to the public.
Thank you to our friends who post recall notices. There is a website that you can visit to see recent recalls - http://www.petful.com/recall-lists/dog-food-recalls/ There is also an interesting "Ted Talk" on dog diets titled "Why Don't Dogs Live Forever?" on You Tube: Today is a day for the heart. We especially want to thank our fosters and adopters who have given their hearts to our Goldens. Without you, our work would not be possible.
Thank you for opening your hearts and homes. Please encourage others to consider volunteering with LPRGRR. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! xoxo |
